Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy, and expensive and you probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

Great for the sorority house!

Submitted by House Director - 9/1/2017

We were in desperate need of a refrigerator for 52 live-in's to share. It has worked out wonderfully. There is enough space for everyone (which is important for this group) and the lighting is superb.

Worst Customer Service Terrible Warranty

Submitted by Quality a thing of the past - 8/31/2017

Had a wall custom built to accomodate our new sidekicks. Cost $1000 . Now stuck with a hole in our kitchen for a $3000+ refrigerator that doesnt work and a freezer alarm that wont stop going off. 10+ service calls to date. Freezer stopped cooling within 1st year. Alarm in freezer keeps going off throughout the day and just yesterday our refrigerator stopped cooling as well. Paid $400 for frig warranty that is useless. AIG, who Whirpool uses for their warranties has the worst customer sevice we have ever experienced. So disrespectful on the phone every time we called. Shocking I know but the Whirpoool Warranty via AIG will NOT cover the cooling repairs needed to get our frig working. SURPRISE! "It's in the contract". They have loopholes in the warranty that prevent you from ever being able to declare the product a lemon. So you have no recourse or hopes for getting a new frig or at least some of your $ refunded let alone the necessary repairs. Total scam as we see it. AIG kept telling us "it's in your contract, it's in your contract". It = that we needed 4 seperate claim numbers before they could "consider" the unit a lemon. But they never give you 4 claims #'s. They keep sending people out under the same #. If repair company they send to you guarantees their work for a certain period of time, say 90 days for example, you have to wait that full 90 days before you can file another claim. This means by the time it takes to aquire 4 claims the warranty is expired therefore rendering it useless moving forward. No hopes of it being declared a lemon or hopes of getting any monies refund. For this sum of $ we have never seen such poor quality of workmanship on the inside workings of appliances. To date between, cost of build out, the units, loss of food and cost of repairs Whirpool Warranty wont pay for, we are out over $5000 to date. Totally devastated! We could NEVER possibly recommend Whirpool after all they have put us through. Such a travesty.

Same problem!

Submitted by Cheryl - 8/2/2017

Beautiful set. Focal point in kitchen everyone remarks about it! Refrigerator stopped cooling properly, Coolant leaked out, evaporator doesn't work and compressor needs to be replaced. $1600.00 to repair. We have to do it, they don't make them the same size any longer and freezer is working fine and there is a whole to fill in the kitchen. I think we should get MORE than 5 1/2 years out of a refrigerator. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

Shiny Piece of Junk Part 2

Submitted by Surveyor - 7/19/2017

See my previous post below: On top of what has already happened now, 07/19/2017, it is leaking out the front and onto the floor. The door never shut tightly. It takes only the slightest force to opened and must be pushed hard to ensure any seal. The bottom of the seal doesn't seal tight causing condensation to build in the fridge. Once the depressed area under the drawers fills with condensate it then has nowhere to go but out the front. Another service call and time off of work. I'd buy a new one and save myself the lost work but it doesn't appear they've fixed the reliability issues. So sad for a Michigan company. I bought this Sidekick refrigerator and matching freezer for our new home on 04/2014. Place in to service on 09/2014. I am now in the midst of my 3rd service call(11/30/2015). Thank god I purchased the extended warranty through Whirlpool. But, that is proving to be junk as well. Factor in that the food loss coverage of $250 is over the life of the warranty, not per event. Each time I am without a refrigerator for 2 - 3 weeks while parts are ordered. I lose time at work to meet the service people. This is the most basic refrigerator there is. No features or bells and whistles and it won't cool. Not to mention we have cabinets built around this unit. Worst purchase ever.

Submitted by Disappoint consumer - 6/26/2017

We bought our fridge in October 2012 and have had two service calls since then, one being today! The repairman said the evaporator, heat exchanger and something else needs to be replaced. The first service call not all the wires were connected... so here we are now having to replace the unit of pay $900+ to fix it. We will not be buying anymore whirlpool products in the future. When I called customer service they were AWFUL! Save yourself the aggravation and money of dealing with an incompetent company

Submitted by matt - 5/25/2017

Bought new refrigerator and freezer in 2011. Fridge died after 6 months and was replaced. Freezer had a frost problem because a wire in it was not connected. 2 years after, fridge stopped working and had to force whirlpool to repair it. Was always freezing if set too low after that. Then fridge died recently, after not even 6 years of usage. DO NOT BUY!!|!

Extremely Poor Quality

Submitted by Gerry P - 5/20/2017

Bought my original Sidekick pair in Fall 2008. The fridge failed after 18 months of use because the refrigerant had all leaked out. The design at the time was with the condenser coils in the skin of the cabinet. When I looked to replace the fridge, the design had changed to a forced air over the condenser coils above the defrost evaporator tray. Also, the door style had changed and did not match the 2008 model, going from the curved top to the straight. Also, the cabinet went from being black (stainless doors) to a gray painted box. So, to maintain a matched set, I bought a new pair of Sidekicks in 2010, putting the freezer in the basement and using the new fridge in the kitchen with the old freezer and swapping doors. After about 4 years, in 2014 the 2010 model freezer failed taking a load of frozen meat with it, estimated loss of product alone was about $750. Today, May 2017, the 2014 fridge has given up and runs constantly without cooling. Loss of refrigerant again. The 2008 freezer is still working though. The 2010 fridge had cold controller issues in that it would not control to a cold enough temperature when set on the coldest setting. The fridge would cycle about a setpoint of 45-50F. The warranty replaced the original with two new cold controllers but they did the same thing. I had to adjust the factory course setting on the controller to get the controller working in the required range, but Whirlpool could not figure this out. So here I sit shopping the internet for a replacement, trying to figure out what to do with a custom built cabinet opening that is not wide enough for the Frigidaire matched set, and not really thrilled about giving Whirlpool another $3k. I think I'll go with a pair of over/unders @ 30" wide each, and not Whirlpool branded. I recommend to stay away from the Sidekicks.

Issues with Refridgerator

Submitted by Tom - 5/15/2017

We completed a full kitchen remodel and were so excited to purchase the Sidekicks...built the space for the two units. Shortly after the warranty ran out (I should have purchased an extended :( the fridge would not cool. The service cost was the compressor....now we are facing another issue. Again it will not cool and the repairman said it is the coils $700.00. Okay now we need to make a decision to pay 50% of the cost to fix or re-purchase new units as the style has changed. At this point I'm very disappointed.

Looks are deceiving

Submitted by Whirlpool Lover - 5/6/2017

We moved into a house that had Sidekicks that were 2005 models, we loved them, we didn't have ANY problems. We purchased a new set and put them to use on July 14, 2014 for a new house purchase/redesign of a kitchen. On May 5, 2017, less than three years later had a service call because it wasn't cooling. We found out it needed the following: 1. new compressor 2. evaporator coil 3. suction line My long time trusted appliance man said it was probably better getting a new one. I called Whirlpool and they stopped making the line. Since we purchased, they have redesigned the units and the handles will not match. So, we're unfortunately replacing both! I am very, very disappointed in the "lemon" of a fridge that we bought. It always had a rattling kind of noise and before it went completely out it was freezing up behind the middle/lower wall. The drip tray had a few strange green spots, which was probably the freon. The only reason we're buying a new set is because we designed our cabinets around having this set.

sidekick all refrigerator

Submitted by Jess - 3/17/2017

I purchased the refrigerator (not the freezer) in 2003. Within 4 years the compressor broke and had to be replaced - luckily then it was covered by a 5 yr warranty and the compressor was replaced. Now whirlpool only offers a 1 yr warranty. I've had other minor problems with the cooling in the last couple of years -- new door seal and 2 new thermostats. Now it's time to purchase a new refrigerator. I want to buy a new sidekick, but I'm too worried because of the poor reviews and the lack of a 5 year warranty. I've actually had pretty good luck with it -- it's 14 yrs old, but don't want to spend big money for repairs the first 5 years. Don't want to take the chance.

Broken fridge and nothing to replace it

Submitted by PMD - 3/6/2017

Not happy with this fridge. It was built into our cabinets along with the freezer. First, the ice maker in the freezer only works intermittingly. Atleast they are able to fix the ice maker. However despite paying for a 3 year warranty I was told today that my fridge is no longer able to be repaired because the part is no longer available. I therefore will need to purchase a brand new fridge that likely will not match the freezer perfectly. Very disappointing especially since we have been a long time Whirlpool customer.

Worst Refrigator Ever!!

Submitted by Grace - 2/23/2017

We bought a whirlpool side kick and it was installed December 15, 2014. On February 13,2017, we woke to find it not cooling. We purchased it from Lowe's in New Braunfels, Texas. We did not purchase an extended warranty. I called Whirlpool who arranged to have a service man come out. He came out within a day or so but the part would be on back order. He installed the part on February 23, 2017 in the afternoon. By evening refrigerator still not cooling!! living out of ice chests for 11 days with a family of five. Lowe's assistant manager said she had never heard of problems with this unit. Check out many websites, including Lowes and Whirlpool and see the problems!. Lowe's has offered a replacement until we get our unit serviced. I have a baby shower in 8 days at my home--will I have an empty sidekick standing awfuly looking in the way while another cheaper fridge is in the place for the sidekick??? 22 months of service--what a joke!! I told the Lowe's representatives that they should make good on it. I don't care about warranty--stand behind the product you sell regardless!!! I will never buy whirlpool again!!!

Chef's home Kitchen Refrigerator

Submitted by Family of chefs - 2/14/2017

The previous whirlpool refrigerator leaked constantly and no one could repair it. This was the only one that fit my kitchen that was designed around the previous whirlpool specifications. The new layout is NOT useful I lost condiment shelves on the door. The pizza rack is of no use for a chef or home cook who does not use prepared pizza. The large shelf on the door is too tall. We do not drink soda. We need space for milk and cream and then the smaller shelf for condiments. The extra veggie keepers took away shelf space. I am constantly moving things to find something. Unfortunately this is the only one that fits my kitchen. It keeps things cold looks nice but the configuration is terrible!!

Poorest Quality Ever - Buy Any Brand But This One

Submitted by Dog Lover - 2/6/2017

Like several other reviewers, we built a new home in 2014 and had the kitchen built out to accommodate the Whirlpool Sidekick refrigerator and freezer. In late 2016, the freezer stopped working. It was a freon leak, and a repairman came out several times to solve the problem. Finally, it was determined that the leak could not be fixed. So, we had no choice, but to purchase a new freezer. Once it got here, Whirlpool had changed the model, including the external appearance. Now, we are forced to also purchase a new refrigerator in order for the two units to match. I was hoping that the model revision would address the freon leak issue, but based on recent reviews, it is apparent that isn't the case. Like others who have reviewed these Sidekicks, we had to throw out a lot of food, and this has been going on since mid-December (it is now the first week in February). So, we had no freezer over the Christmas and New Years holidays, which means no ice. We have to purchase food a little bit at a time, so we can be sure to cook it before it goes bad. I'm betting these Whirlpool Sidekicks are made in China now, because in years past, Whirlpool had a great reputation for making quality products. Not so anymore.

Submitted by Eric - 12/24/2016

This refrigerator is far and away the worst purchase I have ever made. First unit didn't work when it was delivered. Second unit lasted 4 months before it stopped working due to what appears to be a freon leak. More than $300 in food ruined. After reading reviews on other sites this appears to be a regular occurrence. They will replace it with another faulty unit that breaks and spoils more food. Obviously this is either a known design flaw or consistently poor manufacturing.

Submitted by Kingsacura - 10/19/2016

We bought the side kick freezer and fridge when we built our house( we designed the kitchen around it). Ugh! The first fridge broke 4 times( same problem stopped cooling) whirlpool replaced it. We bought an extended warranty and now 13 mo later same issue. I called on September 1, 2016. It is now October 19,2016 and we are still waiting for the repair service to get parts. Ugh! Living out of a cooler for 7 weeks and spending a bunch on groceries and ice. Not happy at all.. Please, please, please save your money. We are stuck now because we designed the kitchen around this stupid thing so we can't even go get a different fridge because it will look stupid.

Having regrets!!

Submitted by Mrs. Howell - 9/19/2016

8 Years ago I outfitted my kitchen with all Whirlpool Gold appliances. 3 yrs ago, my microwave started falling apart, a year ago, this fridge unit started leaking water and would not stay cold on a consistant basis, 3 weeks ago it broke down completley. 2 months ago, one of the burners on my electric stove went out. So I am impressed with Whirlpool Gold?? Not one bit. I have custom cabinets built around this fridge/freezer unit and have water damage to the cabinets because of it. Even when the repair man came out, he had nothing good to say about this unit. I thought i was buying high quality appliances hence "GOLD". I feel that for the amount of money, my microwave, stove top and fridge should have lasted alot longer than 8 years tops.

LOVE the all-frig refrigerator

Submitted by BJK - 7/29/2016

I thought it would be inconvenient to have to go to the basement freezer, but it's pretty minor.....especially in comparison to the pleasure of a big, spacious frig where I can see everything. I love the 4 drawers for fruits and veggies too.

Sidekick

Submitted by Patty - 6/17/2016

So far so good. I know this unit has received less than stellar reviews but it's the only unit that would fit in our space (we bought an extended warranty). So far I'm liking them both. Although I think the space could have been used better in both units. They're set up more like a commercial fridge/freezer without all the niceties of what you might be used to in other refrigerator/freezers like moving shelves and drawers and cubbies for odd shaped items. But, all that being said, I like them.

Won't cool like the book says

Submitted by Monte - 5/31/2016

I'm on my second refrigerator and you have to run this one on maximum to get it to come you're 3738 if you put it on the center section like is recommended it's 42 to 44 and I don't know about you but that's too warm for me

Out with the old, in with the new!

Submitted by Karen - 5/20/2016

Had to replace my 10 year old whirlpool. I like the large capacity. I am spoiled to all of the space and dont want to go back to a smaller unit. This new one doesn't have sliding shelves. It has one less shelf but two extra drawers on the bottom. Not many choices in this style.

Great "All Fridge"

Submitted by BwillyD - 5/10/2016

This is our second all-fridge. We love the concept and love this fridge. We paired it with a 20cf freezer and couldn't be happier. It is quiet and does its job perfectly. Couldn't be happier.

So far so good, except....

Submitted by Liz - 3/27/2016

We've had this unit for about a month. The first thing we discovered is that unless you can open the door more than 90 degrees, you can't pull out the two right-hand veggie drawers. (We had inquired about this very problem, and were told 90 degrees was sufficient, so apparently the people at Whirlpool have bad info.) Since our fridge is next to a wall, this was a problem. We dealt with it by removing the top drawer altogether (and just using that area as a shelf) and then angling the whole unit slightly askew to the left, so that we can open the bottom drawer just enough to put in and take out small items that we don't use very often (certain condiments). The second issue is that the support for that shelf I refer to above is just a flimsy piece of plastic. I suppose this would be fine if we were able to keep the drawer in place for more support, but we have to be VERY careful not to knock this piece of plastic aside or break it. It has come out once--it's just wedged in there--but so far we have been able to put it back okay and keep using the shelf. Oh, and one other problem: to get it to run at an appropriate temp, we had to set it on the lower setting. I have a refrigerator thermometer, and the factory setting only produced a temp of about 42. Since 38-40 is optimal, we have been running it at the lower setting. Since there is no knob to turn, you only have three choices for settings and you can't fine-tune it. Frankly, we would have gone for another item but this was the ONLY all-fridge ANYWHERE we could find that would fit into the spot where our old one (Woods) was. What is the deal with the refrigerator industry!!!??? Also, please keep making white fridges; not everyone wants stainless steel (ugh).

We've had it for 2 months and are happy with it. Efficient on space. Runs pretty quiet. Good lighting. Only negative I could say is that the door opens kind of tough.

Do not waste your money !! Whirlpool does not mean quality

Submitted by Vince - 3/22/2016

My fridge was purchased 2.5 years ago and I am writing today to say how disappointed I am. It quit cooling and is shot. It cannot be repaired and must be replaced. I own the matching Freezer, so now I must determine if I care that the fridge and freezer do not match when I buy a new one. I also have to figure out if I want to waste more money on such a low quality appliance at Whirlpool or go with a better brand. I am very disappointed. I plan on screaming from the roof tops to tell people not to buy Whirlpool appliances!!

Awful finishes

Submitted by mamaj - 3/17/2016

We had no choice but to buy this unit or reconfigure our entire kitchen. We replaced 10 year old whirlpool sidekicks. Since the day this unit was delivered a month ago I have not been able to clean the doors properly using all the agents I used on the old units. There are only two careful adults in the house so it makes no sense that the units look like they are in a home with 10 kids. Very disappointed.

Like the outside size;inside too small

Submitted by Lilymar - 2/8/2016

I had two bottom freezer drawer refrigerator combinations with right and left swinging doors. Left swinging door now discontinued. When my right refrigerator broke, I got side-kick refrigerator and freezer. Fits the space but honestly the refrigerator space is too small-- I lost 1/3 of my refrigerator space.
